On Sunday, October 15, 2023, Mike Kull returned to The Table to share details about his mission trips to Africa Fire Mission. Our noisy offering that day supported Mike’s upcoming trip to Kenya. Here is a re-cap from Mike about his mission trips:
I began working with Africa Fire mission in 2021 when I traveled to Nairobi, Kenya for my first trip. Due to the generous contributions I received from The Table, I was able to serve in Malawi and Kenya again in 2022. While in Kenya, I served as one of our Chaplains for the trip. During this time, I became more actively involved in the organization and began hosting Africa Fire Mission's weekly virtual training sessions every Wednesday in 2023. This June, I traveled back to Malawi as the leader for our entire mission trip.
This Saturday, Africa Fire Mission is hosting its annual fundraiser where I am being honored as the organization's Instructor of the Year as well as Volunteer of the Year. In the beginning of November, I'll be leaving again for Kenya. This time returning again as a leader where I will be responsible for our EMS and Fire Training Symposium where I will be leading 35 instructors from the US and Canada as well an equal number of local Kenyan instructors as we host a training week that will be attended by over 500 participants from Kenya and other areas of East and South Africa. In the coming year, I will have more opportunities to serve in Nigeria, Malawi, Zambia and Kenya.
The fundraising and support that I have received from The Table has allowed me to progress and advance in the organization and has allowed me to directly serve over 1,000 firefighters throughout Africa, increasing their skills that will then improve the lives of literally millions of people. I will be forever grateful to The Table for the support that has led this mission to such levels of success.
Congratulations to Mike being named Instructor of the Year AND Volunteer of the Year!
